We currently have a great assignment for an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) / Communications Engineer with one of our top clients. As an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) / Communications Engineer, you will be supporting our client, one of the world’s largest engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), maintenance and project management companies.  The Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) / Communications Engineer will join the project team supporting the construction of a large transit project.

Job Responsibilities

The Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) / Communications Engineer will be responsible for the oversight of subcontractors, participate in ITS design coordination for communications, control & monitoring and fire & security for a light rail project, and responsibilities include:

  • Interacting and directing sub-contractors related to design responsibilities
  • Reviewing and providing monthly man-hour reports
  • Reviewing and signing off on monthly pay applications
  • Reviewing design submissions to include comments and verification per Concessionaire Design Quality Plan
  • Participating in design coordination meetings between sub-contractor and other designers including duct bank design, clash detection, Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) to Wayside communications and tunnel space proofing
  • Participating in all design coordination related to Communications Infrastructure Backbones (CIB), P-25 Radio Systems, telephone systems, Wi-Fi System Design, Passenger Information Systems and Automatic Vehicle Location Systems
  • Reviewing design of various SCADA control monitoring systems including traction power, elevators / escalators, tunnel ventilation, communications, fire / security, fare collection and Train Traffic Management (TTM)
  • Participating in ITS Design Coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and providing review and comment on Traffic Designs where associated with train control elements
  • Meeting with clients on design concerns related to interface with MDOT CIB connectivity

Specific qualifications for the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) / Communications Engineer role include:

  • Accredited four year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study
  • Minimum of five years of work-related experience in the field of transit rail design
  • Familiar with applicable local, state and federal statutes and guidelines
  • Must have experience with design, testing and integration
