Job Description

We currently have a great assignment for an Assistant Project Manager with one of our top clients.  As an Assistant Project Manager, you will be supporting our client, a program management firm focused on both new construction and renovation projects.  This is a long-term opportunity based in Baltimore, Maryland. 

Job Responsibilities                                          

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Project Manager will be to provide management support for a project team so that it can successfully execute program management (PM) assignments for one or more of the following client types: K-12 public schools, independent and charter schools, arenas, stadiums or community recreation.  The Assistant Project Manager will take full management responsibility for smaller to medium-scaled implementation assignments of over $10MM in total project costs, to include:

  • Responsible for deliverables with pre-development and implementation assignments including cost estimating, construction monitoring, constructability reviews, budget reconciliation, project documentation, design management, A&E selection management, public approvals and permitting, schedule compliance and commissioning activities
  • Support Project Manager or Senior Project Manager with the management of multiple assignments within a large-scale program, serving as the Client’s “trusted advisor” focused on achievement of project goals for schedule, budget and quality, and providing critical thinking and analyses to ensure quality client advice
  • Develop client deliverables including written reports, presentations, budgets, schedules and program, etc. that are tailored to meet client’s desired outcomes and scope requirements
  • Coordinate and direct the day-to-day activities of assigned project staff, both internal staff and external (JV partners, sub consultants, architects and builders) to achieve project goals and objectives
  • Provide input on annual performance reviews of project staff under APM’s direction
  • Perform quality control activities to ensure that deliverables are error-free and delivered on time
  • Participate in staff training and development opportunities and actively cultivates a knowledge base in a range of practices and methodologies in relevant industry markets (Venues+Municipal and/or K-12)
  • Participate in business development activities to include article writing, conference attendance and prospective client tracking or follow-up
Job Requirements

Specific qualifications for the Assistant Project Manager role include:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, economics, finance, urban planning, real estate management or related field
  • Three to five years full-time planning, implementation or related experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office Suite applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong understanding of real estate, finance and accounting principles
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
