We currently have a great assignment for a Civil Engineering Project Manager. As a Civil Engineering Project Manager, you will support a full-service engineering and construction firm providing lasting and integrated solutions in water & environmental resources, transportation, energy and facilities to both public and private clients.

Job Responsibilities

The Civil Engineering Project Manager will be based out of Orlando, FL. supporting the planning and design of water projects. Services span the areas of modeling, master planning studies, design, permitting and construction administration of water, wastewater, solid waste and storm water facilities. The Civil Engineering Project Manager is primarily responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and managing several important major civil and environmental projects of varying scopes and complexities for up to 10 project team members. Additional duties include:

  • Serving as a liaison with individuals and units within or outside organization
  • Acting independently on technical matters pertaining to designated specialty field
  • Performing planning, engineering design and problem-solving associated with water resources and municipal utility (water & wastewater) infrastructure projects
  • Leading, mentoring and delegating to one or more junior engineers
  • Actively participating in new business development by contributing technical approaches to problem-solving and client relationship-building 
  • General administration of contracts, including site visits to ensure compliance with contract specifications
  • Utilizing Program Management Information Systems (PMIS) and document management system 

Job Requirements

Specific qualifications for the Civil Engineering Project Manager role include:
  • B.S. Degree or higher in civil engineering, environmental engineering, construction management or similar applicable discipline
  • 7 or more years of water resource civil engineering experience, some project management experience is highly preferred
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferably in the state of Florida
  • A willingness to become certified as a Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager, (CCM) or DBIA Certified Design-Build Professional within 12 months of hire or by date of promotion, a current PMP, CCM or DBIA certification is preferred
  • Experience working with project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control & assurance methodologies, project management software, finance & accounting concepts and practices
  • Prior civil design experience, particularly with municipal utilities, hydrology/hydraulic design, drainage and stormwater modeling projects
  • Construction administration experience including review of shop drawings, RFI’s, pay applications and change order requests
  • Permitting experience with water management districts, experience with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection is preferred
  • Water resource software & systems experience, including the Hydrologic Engineering Center’s River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) or the Hydrologic Engineering Center’s Hydrologic Modeling System (HEC-HMS)
  • Must possess advanced knowledge in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel  
  • Up to 40% domestic or international travel may be required; the frequency is contingent upon specific duties, responsibilities and essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands
