We currently have a great assignment for a Deputy Project Controls Manager (Construction). As a Deputy Project Controls Manager (Construction), you will be supporting our client, one of the world’s largest engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), maintenance and project management companies. The Deputy Project Controls Manager (Construction) will join the project team supporting the construction of a large transit project.

Job Responsibilities

The Deputy Project Controls Manager (Construction) will be responsible for developing, implementing and directing Project Controls functions on a large project while reporting to the Project Controls Manager and directly interfacing with the Project Deputy Director, Project Director and Client Representatives. Other responsibilities include:

  • Implementing the Work Breakdown and Project Coding Structures to ensure that data are converted correctly from the original estimate to the Project Control system
  • Analyzing variances in cost or schedule performance against the plan and communicating the reasons for the issuance of variances and proposed mitigation plans to Project Management
  • Reviewing project profit recognition and providing evaluation of opportunities with management
  • Reviewing project schedule including critical path activities and reviewing schedule float for schedule slippages
  • Maintaining working knowledge of the functionality of automated cost or scheduling management systems
  • Coordinating estimate development with the Project Estimator
  • Participating in the supervision, development and implementation of training courses and mentoring of Project Controls personnel
  • Supervising and managing the change management process
  • Managing the review of Project Profit / Risk Analysis with management and providing status reporting
  • Facilitating internal and external audits
  • Planning and organizing the setup of project baseline in the project control system and implementing a plan to track against the baseline on a regular basis
  • Participating in the Project Change Management Program, avoidance and resolution of claims, negotiation of Change Orders and Modifications, compliance with prime contract terms and conditions, government regulation and status and internal practices
  • Leading the project efforts for cost / scheduling activities
  • Maintaining familiarity with the functionality of the automated cost management system and planning and scheduling system
  • Providing meaningful, accurate historical data
  • Analyzing and making independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and / or project objectives and guidelines

Specific qualifications for the Deputy Project Controls Manager (Construction) role include:

  • Accredited four year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study
  • 15 years minimum work-related experience managing an engineering, procurement and construction schedule
  • Experience with master site planning, field planning / scheduling for large projects (transportation infrastructure project preferred)
  • Proficient in Primavera Project Planner P6, MicroSoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Time-Location System (TILOS) software preferred
  • Experience with Public-Private Partnerships (P3) preferred
