We currently have a great assignment for an Engineering Project Manager with one of our top clients.  As an Engineering Project Manager, you will be supporting our client, a local water resource company located in the Northern Virginia area.

Job Responsibilities


The Engineering Project Manager will oversee the execution of one or more complex projects and the effective and efficient management of those projects, and shall:

  • Assume responsibility for the planning, design review, construction and closeout phases of assigned projects
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, consultants, contractors and vendors throughout the project to ensure success
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation for all Engineering Department activities including contract documents, accounting documents and formal correspondence
  • Oversee departmental spending through generating requisitions and purchase orders, processing invoices and explaining project to Finance Department
  • Prepare and review plans for infrastructure expansions, plant modifications and facility upgrades
  • Perform technical, para-professional engineering work that is carried out in accordance with general instructions and established practices & procedures
  • Coordinate project permitting efforts and ensure all necessary permits have been submitted to appropriate regulatory agencies and remain active during construction
  • Track and report project cost, schedules and status and work to keep projects on-time and within budget
  • Oversee construction projects by inspecting the progress and quality of construction and reviewing drawings, submittals and analytical test reports
  • Assure contractor performance and compliance with construction drawings, specifications and company procedures and guidelines
  • Prepare and negotiate change orders and review & approve contractor applications for payment
  • Prepare statements of work for inclusion in requests for proposals and invitations for bid, evaluate proposals and bid documents, prepare recommendations for award and manage professional service contracts
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external agencies
  • Adhere to company’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs, abiding by the policies, procedures and rules set forth in the programs and facilitating active involvement in them to assist in providing a safe and healthy workplace for everyone
  • Participate in communications training programs, share information as requested about position and tasks with communications to the team and as requested, participate in various outreach activities such as career panels and guided tours
  • Understand and weave organizational sustainability objectives into daily work and decision-making
  • Actively promote safe behaviors and health awareness at all times in the execution of daily tasks
Job Requirements

Specific qualifications for the Engineering Project Manager role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Engineering and Project Management or Construction Management
  • Wastewater and water treatment experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed
  • Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Trustworthy, self-motivated, passionate and dedicated to high-quality work
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and the Microsoft Windows Operating System
  • PE or RA license preferred; PMP or CCM certification desirable
