We currently have a great assignment for a Field Engineer (MD/VA Territory) with one of our top clients. As a Field Engineer (MD/VA Territory) you will be supporting our client, an East Coast engineering and construction firm focused on preserving, maintaining, repairing and restoring parking structures, including emergency repairs, long-term maintenance plans and conditions assessments.  This client provides a full-service balance of engineering consulting in addition to restoration, repair and maintenance services.

Job Responsibilities

The Field Engineer (MD/VA Territory) will survey and evaluate existing structures and prepare the associated inspection reports.  This individual will communicate the assessment results and follow-up plans with the Territory Manager.  The Field Engineer will confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and insure issues are effectively brought to resolution.  Additionally, this role is responsible for providing technical sales support to enhance existing customer relationships and to assist with securing new ones.  Additional responsibilities include the following:

  • Inspect and design existing structures’ maintenance and repair needs
  • Prepare and issue associated inspection reports for use by the customer and Territory Manager
  • Create all technical specifications, engineering all structural repairs within assigned territory
  • Communicate assessments and follow-up plans with Territory Manager
  • Review calculations, structural drawings, construction documents and related questions, as required
  • Refer questions or seek technical direction from Senior Director as needed
  • Research building codes and specifications, as required
  • Provide technical sales support to business development team for prospective customers and existing clients
  • Advise on preventative maintenance plans and multi-year maintenance programs
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to project personnel and subcontractors, as needed
  • Consistently attend technical seminars and training programs to ensure subject matter expertise is up-to-date and honed
  • Assist with training of new Field Engineers, as needed

Job Requirements 

Specific qualifications for the Field Engineer (MD/VA Territory) role include the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering required; Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering preferred
  • PE licensed or desire to become licensed required; training provided as needed
  • 3-5 years of experience designing and detailing new concrete, steel and masonry structures required; prior parking garage structure experience highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Google applications and MS Office Suite products required
  • Strategic problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced, evolving work environment
