RealStreet has an assignment for a Lead Mechanical Engineer. This individual will be working on an Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Program for a mission critical customer. Job Responsibilities

The Lead Mechanical Engineer position is based in Springfield, VA, and will be responsible for the facilities operation and maintenance services to include construction, power generation, warehousing, transportation systems, environmental health and safety, security, and all aspects of maintaining and repairing the site and its ancillary buildings. Additional responsibilities of the Lead Mechanical Engineer include:

  • Evaluating, selecting and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgement in making adaptations and modifications
  • Performing responsible and varied engineering assignments requiring general familiarity with a broad field of engineering and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines
  • Performing all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works
  • Solving problems by using a combination of standard procedures, modifications of same or methods developed in previous assignments
  • Developing and designing solutions for a variety of technical problems of moderate to extreme scope and complexity across the mechanical engineering discipline
  • Working with trades personnel of all disciplines to troubleshoot and resolve systems and facility issues

Job Requirements

Specific qualifications for the Lead Mechanical Engineer role include:

  • B.S. Degree or higher in mechanical engineering
  • Must have a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia
  • 5 years minimum mechanical and electrical systems experience working with the government in a secure environment
  • 5 years minimum experience designing HVAC and Hydronic systems, data center cooling systems and Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Experience working on multiple projects at a time ranging up to $300K per project
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2018
  • Familiarity with typical codes such as Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC), International Mechanical Code (IMC), ASHRAE 90.1 and Unified Facility Criteria (UFC)
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have an active TS security clearance, with an active TS/SCI preferred
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Facility Manager (CFM) is preferred
