We currently have a great assignment for a Wet Weather Program Engineer with one of our top clients.  As a Wet Weather Program Engineer, you will be supporting our client, a local water resource company located in the Northern Virginia area.

Job Responsibilities

The Wet Weather Program Engineer will work with a team to implement a large, complex program for sewer mitigation from planning through construction and commissioning.  In this role, the Wet Weather Program Engineer will provide support for multiple Wet Weather Program projects to ensure they move together and forward to meet the overall program management objectives and goals, and shall:

  • Plan, manage and oversee the design and construction of large-scale wet weather facilities to meet program goals
  • Review scope, schedule and budget for engineering proposals
  • Provide key program management support
  • Manage project delivery and execution
  • Interact with the Owner’s Advisory Team to confirm work is progressing per schedule and budget
  • Ensure that the work is being developed to the appropriate level of completeness and quality
  • Simplify complex topics for non-technical audiences and prepare quick, pointed summaries for executives and stakeholders
  • Review complex technical reports, design packages and other program deliverables
Job Requirements

Specific qualifications for a Wet Weather Program Engineer role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or related Engineering field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 5 + years of experience with municipal water / wastewater utility engineering
  • Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia or ability to obtain Virginia PE license within 6 months desired
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from Project Management Institute desirable
  • Experience in the planning, design and execution of large municipal or federal facilities
  • Experience in multijurisdictional interagency coordination to implement projects
  • Knowledge of water quality issues and associated regulatory requirements
  • Effective communication skills, i.e. ability to communicate orally and in writing across functions and teams up and down the chain of command
  • The ability to influence people to get things done
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to proactively deal with conflict
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a passion to accomplish capital projects
