RealStreet has an assignment for a Construction Safety Manager in Washington, DC. This individual will support our client, one of the world’s largest engineering, construction, technical and management firms. Job Responsibilities

The Construction Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Safety Program and monitoring the performance of all construction contractors working at the job site. Additional responsibilities of the Safety Manager include:

  • Managing the Safety Plan as it pertains to the construction contractor personnel and implementing corrections as needed
  • Reviewing and updating existing safety deliverables, and overseeing the creation of new deliverables
  • Ensuring components of the Safety Plan adequately document how the projects will be safely executed, monitored and controlled
  • Oversee the integration of the General Contractor’s Safety Plan and the monitoring of safe construction processes
  • Inspecting jobsite conditions to ensure contractor compliance with Agency contract provisions and OSHA requirements
  • Providing training for onsite construction staff in the areas of scaffold safety, confined space, lead and asbestos abatement, silica exposure and other hazards
  • Reviewing all contractor crane plans and providing oversight on all rigging and crane lifts

Job Requirements

Specific qualifications for the Construction Safety Manager role include:

  • An associates degree in occupational safety and health or another construction related field
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of construction experience of which 7 or more years working as a safety manager. Previous work on federal projects is preferred
  • Must possess or be able to obtain within one year at least one of the following certifications issued by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals;
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
    • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
    • Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC)
  • OSHA 500 certification is highly desirable
  • Must be able to pass a Federal background investigation
