We currently have a great assignment for a Senior Transportation Engineer. This individual will support our client, a growing engineering firm based out of Jackson, MS, with transportation projects throughout Texas. Job Responsibilities

The Senior Transportation Engineer will become a part of our client’s team in Houston, TX, and will be responsible for supporting our client on a variety of transportation related projects.

Responsibilities of the Senior Transportation Engineer include:

  • Participating in contract bidding and administration
  • Reviewing plans and technical specifications, contract documents and estimates
  • Planning, scheduling, conducting or coordinating transportation engineering work
  • Preparing engineering reports, plans and specifications for major projects
  • Conceptualizing the initial design approach for major phases of large roadway projects
  • Performing various aspects of roadway projects including:
    • Geometric design
    • Right-of-way plans
    • Storm drainage design
    • Erosion control design
    • Utilities
    • Signing and marking
  • Developing, reviewing and revising engineering drawings and roadway design plans
  • Troubleshooting issues as they occur
  • Communicating and interacting with project team members, client representatives, outside consultants, city/state officials and outside agencies
  • Supervising the on-going progress of a project, including the work of junior engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project

Job Requirements

Specific qualifications for the Senior Transportation Engineer role include:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering is required, a master’s degree is preferred
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) (any state is acceptable)
  • Twelve (12) or more years of transportation/roadway and drainage design experience, including:
    • Department of Transportation (DOT) project experience
    • Project management experience
    • Traffic and safety design experience is preferred
  • Proficiency with the following software:
    • MicroStation – Version 2019
    • AutoCAD Design – Versions 2018 and 2021
    • AutoCAD Civil 3D Design – Version 2018
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Geopak experience is a plus
  • Expert knowledge of engineering design, and practical application of engineering principles, practices and techniques
  • Authorized to work in the US
