Job Description

We currently have a great assignment for a Sr. Program Manager with one of our top clients.  The Sr. Program Manager leads a project team that will perform implementation activities for large capital construction programs for institutions of higher education.  This is a long-term opportunity based in San Jose, California.


Job Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Sr. Program Manager will be to provide management, leadership and strategic direction to a project team focused on community college assignments, to include:

  • Responsibility for the deliverables for planning, site analysis, master planning, program development, project feasibility studies, financial modeling, business planning, market analysis, report writing and giving presentations
  • Responsibility for master planning activities, site analyses, needs assessments, program planning, feasibility studies, financial modeling and market analyses
  • Responsibility for the implementation of assignments including cost estimating, construction monitoring, constructability reviews, budget reconciliations, project documentation, public approvals & permitting, A&E selection management and schedule compliance
  • Directing or developing client deliverables including written reports, presentations, budgets, schedules and programs that are tailored to meet client's desired outcomes and scope requirements
  • Coordinating and directing the day-to-day activities of assigned project staff, both internal and external (JV partners, sub-contractors, architects and builders), to achieve project goals and objectives
  • Participating in staff development, mentoring and training of staff under project manager's direction and providing input on annual performance reviews for those staff
  • Directing or developing monthly client billings and ensuring timely collection of receivables (if applicable)
  • Serving as the client's "trusted advisor" focused on additional services and repeat projects
  • Participating in strategic planning for respective operating group, attending farming meetings, developing proposal materials and attending interviews
Job Requirements

Specific qualifications for the Sr. Program Manager role include:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, urban planning or real estate management
  • Minimum of ten years full-time consulting, project management and implementation experience
  • Experience managing large bond programs for community colleges
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint plus MS Project
  • Ability to apply technological solutions to consulting or PM assignments
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to be productive in a fast-paced, multi-dimensional work environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent group facilitation and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Strong understanding of real estate, finance and accounting principles
  • Demonstrated commitment to client satisfaction and ethical business practices
  • Proven adaptability, flexibility and creativity
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive within a team structure
  • Aptitude and desire for mentoring and training analyst
