Job Description

We currently have a great assignment for a Structural Engineer with one of our top clients.  As a Structural Engineer, you will be supporting our client’s project and the position is located in Hyattsville, MD. 

Job Responsibilities

The Structural Engineer will be responsible for leading efforts on bridge and structural inspections to identify and assess structures by developing processes and procedures to guide efforts in order to ascertain the condition of structural assets to maintain in a state of good repair, and shall:

  • Review and update client’s inventory of structural assets
  • Review, update and develop client inspection manuals compliant with applicable codes, regulations and industry best practices
  • Assist in developing contract documents to maintain client structures
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, consultants, contractors and vendors throughout the project to ensure success
  • Prepare technical and analytical reports
  • Utilize existing asset information and inspection records to assemble a comprehensive structural inspection manual
  • Develop procedures for inspections for all structural assets and their subcomponents, including those requiring special equipment to access
  • Assume accountability for all areas of client facilities, including delineating the boundaries of responsibility with other non-structural assets (e.g. the area between escalators structure and the platform structure)
  • Develop procedures for the analysis of inspection results and potential trending of deficiencies from year to year
  • Develop procedures for post-incident or inspections to monitor repairs to completion to ensure safe remediation
Job Requirements

Specific qualifications for the Structural Engineer role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an applicable accredited 4-year degree program
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in performing bridge and structural inspections
  • Transportation, Transit and Maintenance Engineering experience sought
  • Familiarity with contracts and contracting methods preferred
  • Active Professional Engineering license is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed
  • Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
